I <3 Dune.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

- Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear

Frank Herbert, the creator of Dune is one of the most well known and loved sci-fi writers, ranking up among the likes of Issac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke.
What attracts me most to his work is the amount of philosophy in his work, mainly evident in the religious Bene Gesserit faction in the Dune universe. Also, his work explores politics, psychology and ecology as well, which is rare for any writer, and has not been combined into a work by any other author to date as far as i know, and none have certainly written it as eloquently has he did.

Just a few quotes of note:

*me needs to save more money to buy Dune novels*
