Yep, just finished my Advertising paper today. Despite spending less than 3 hours actually studying the material instead of agonising over it, i *think* i did okay.
But as interesting as the subject is, i still don't like the actual advertising itself. While it sounds nice in theory, the sheer crap we have today that bears the name "advertisement" is mind boggling.
Stupidity is NOT good advertising.
The types of advertisements i like are those that really show hard work, great creativity and "intelligent".
One of the worst outlets for retarded advertising has to be the radio. People making stupid sounds, talking in cheesy accents and the like are annoying. Wonder why there are so many road rage and road accident cases? Well, wonder no more. Radio ads can raise your blood pressure to impressive levels.
But even i cannot express indignation to crappy advertising as eloquently as the author of "No Logo":

Commercialism has oversaturated the collective consciousness of consumers. Many remain oblivious to the fact that the advertising itself is just a face, an image of a product, but does not necessarily reflect a product's value or quality.
Those who do, disregard the advertising until they see concrete proof that this product lives up to its claims.
